Placemaking Assessment

JS&A assessed citywide retail conditions in Boynton beach and identified current and potential economic engines and generators for stimulating economic growth. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a severe drop in retail spending in Boynton Beach throughout 2020. JS&A conducted an analysis of retail spending trends before and after the pandemic using credit card spending data.

JS&A conducted an opportunity assessment of Boynton Beach’s six distinct districts offering unique retail environments, orientations, and customer bases to define the city’s retail economy collectively. This included identifying potential placemaking locations and real estate assets with the strongest potential to become economic engines and catalysts for the City. JS&A identified competitive advantage (conditions, characteristics and assets) specific to Boynton Beach that could be articulated to attract new businesses.
